The Electro-Acuscope treatment- a rapid and painless method of treating pain -has arrived in Los Alamitos.
As an avid fan of continual learning, Dr. Lorraine Urbina, D.C., and Licensed Aesthetician, is always studying new and cutting-edge technologies that can help her patients feel better in the shortest amount of time possible.
In 2008, Urbina said she heard about the Electro-Acuscope and wanted to bring that knowledge to the Los Alamitos community. Therefore, she began her studies with Dr. Anthony Morovati to learn his unique approach of managing pain by utilizing a computer-assisted bio-feed back system to eliminate myofascial pain and trigger points rapidly and comfortably.
Morovati is a current member of The American Academy of Spine Physicians, which is an organization comprised of chiropractic physicians and neurosurgeons committed to improving the quality of spine care through cooperative and conservative efforts. "Spine and spine-related disorders represent one of the most common problems encountered in healthcare," said Morovati.
Electro-Acuscope treatment is based on a series of electric and electromagnetic manipulation of the patient's tissues, and is based on a space-age computer technology for non-invasive control of pain without the use of needles or large amounts of electricity.
The Electro-Acuscope is a procedure that constantly monitors the electrical activity of the body and then treats the patient according to the information fed into its computer. The body tells the instrument what it needs, and therefore provides an individualized treatment for each patient.
The method works by introducing a gentle current of waveforms that are similar to the body's own electrical currents that then increases the electrical activity of the affected area so the cells are able to self repair. Electrical current helps supply the inside of the cell with the necessary proteins to hasten cell repair.
"I began applying the Electro Acuscope method in my practice, and noticed immediate results that my patients reported back to me as they were experiencing the treatment, which was a feeling of relief of muscular pain - almost instantly," Urbina said. "The patients said they felt a significant percentage better immediately, with additional improvement by the next day."
Discussing pain, Urbina said that there are definite consequences of chronic stress and that no matter what type of stress an individual experiences whether it's physical or psychological, the out come is that pain continues to get worse.
Urbina said that constant stress can wear the body down, and thereby cause other physical problems, such as tension headaches, muscle spasms, elevated blood pressure, and intestinal problems, and can lead to fatigue, depression and even a sense of hopelessness.
The Electro-Acuscope treatment is currently being used by professional athletic teams, sports medicine practices, hospitals, private physicians, psychologists, and therapists
in health care fields throughout the world.
The procedure is being used to treat acute and chronic sprains/strains, arthritis, tendonitis, slow healing fractures/sprains, torn muscles/ligaments, neuralgias such as shingles, overuse injuries such as carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, neck/back pains, TMJ, and headaches to name a few.
Because Urbina is an Aesthetician as well as a chiropractor, she said that she is always delighted to find a cosmetic usage for her micro current and Electro-Acuscope, which seems not only to aid muscular pain but to significantly decrease wrinkles by lightening the wrinkles and freshening the face.
